Midnight ramblings in East Coast Style

When I was attending graduate school in Oregon, there were times when I left my house at too-goll-darn-early in the morning, to go practice, or teach munchkins...or, go practice. This excursion is ill advised without a caffeinated beverage, so often the trek consisted of cello in right hand and coffee in left.

In any case, I remember on a few occasions, stepping out into the brisk, misty Oregon air, grateful that I had this moment of peace in the morning, before the rest of the world woke up and started drinking their caffeinated beverages. After all, not every music major at UO wanted to practice at 8 am. Mostly just us silly ones.

-Were we silly because of the coffee, or in spite of the coffee?
-Not sure.
-But I digress.
-Damn! I think I'll be doing a lot of that. See--this here is my 1st post.
Like the title pages in my written journals, I would prefer to leave it blank, and write it when I think of the perfect 1st post. Alas, I don't know when that will happen.

So now, a little background.

I always used to think I was change averse. And heck, maybe I am. But whether change-averse, or change-o-phile, this month is a period of extraordinary change for me. Within the next 7 days, I have 1) my last day at Entelos, 2) a departure for Japan, and 3) a move to SF. What is one to make of this? Well, 1) it was time to move on 2)Trevor had frequent flier miles, and 3)um, we'll talk about that one later.

Suffice it to say, I've realized there's some things I've been wanting to do. Would love to go back to school. Would love to be a writer. Would love to think that registering to vote (and voting!)actually means something. (Shoot! Voting! Another to do before Japan?!?! Does it never end?!)

So you see the opportunity. Three weeks in Japan, the ever growing popularity of blogging. How could I not write? Stay tuned. Next post--Osaka! From a pension where you sleep in tubes. Those kooky Japanese!

I couldn't read it, it is toooo dark. Is it because you were rambling in midnight, or because it was in east coast?????

Good heavens, we were always silly in SPITE of the coffee. No doubt whatsoever. The coffee did help Sevcik and Feulliard seem silly, though, which undoubtedly kept us going to school to practice at such lovely times of day. :P

Safe travels!
