A race against time, comprehension, and a weeeird keyboard

So greetings from Shimabara, a port city on the peninsula below Tokyo. (Same peninsula as where Nagasaki is.) We arrived here after a day in Imari gazing at beautiful pottery and an afternoon in Imari gazing at what appeared to be dueling rickshaws. Both Trevor and I thought, we really must find out what all this violence is about! Because you see, the one rickshaw does all the taunting, and the other rickshaw just stands there and takes it, until a guy on the 2nd rickshaw starts beating a taiko drum. Then they slowly advance on each other with these comblike prongs in front; all the while the taiko drum is beating. In the movies, it is clear something bad is about to happen. And yes! Then the combs entangle and one rickshaw topples the other.Oh, the virtues of talking to perfect strangers. We only knew about this festival because we were staring at the train departure sign in utter confusion. (Sooon we learned that just because the kanji are different doesn:t mean %all% the stops are different. Just different terminal points really.) Anyhow, a kind bloke )and yes, he was from the UK) showed us a short video on his camera, and we were sold. Wow! Rickshaws toppling each other! I aspire to learn how to add video to my or Trevor:s website when I get home. Then you too can see the spectacle that is the Toppling Rickshaws. The race against time is that the free internet is about to run out.The race against comprehension is constant. And yes, the keyboard is weird! Be grateful I corrected &some& of the typos.Tchuess!
